There’s a small town (village?) on the Nicoya peninsula of Costa Rica’s Guanacaste province called Montezuma. And by small, I mean it’s got a grand total of three roads that might comprise kilometre all told. There are likely more hotels than there are houses, but it’s not overrun by tourists — it’s as sleepy a coastal town as I’ve ever seen, certainly in Costa Rica.
We travelled there for the DÃ a de la Madre in August 2008. It’s “Mother’s Day”, though it’s more about the Virgin Mary than it is about your mom. Still, it’s regarded as both, which is as good a reason as any to take Alex someplace nice for a break away from the condo.
