Clearing out the basement

The first contractors arrive tomorrow, so we’ve been in a push to get the basement ready for them. So far, we’ve managed to remove all the inner walls, lights (except two in the ceiling), carpet, some of the floor tiles, and all outer wall coverings, studs and insulation.

It’s creating quite the mess.

I really dragged my heels after first getting started. It’s a daunting task when it’s just you. But I did get back into the process again, after I picked up a couple of key things: a small sledgehammer, a circuit detector, and a pair of shatterproof glasses.

In a fairly short period of time, the basement was effectively disassembled. We just need to get all the junk out now, and get started with the next steps of rebuilding.

Oh, and sell a used water softener, gas fireplace, washer/dryer, and a chest freezer. Any takers?
